This privacy policy sets out how The Student Sex Work Project uses and protects any information that you give the Project when you use this website.

The Student Sex Work Project is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

The Student Sex Work Project may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check back from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from the 21st of September 2012.

·  Demographic information such as postcode, ethnicity, age, religion, sexual health, details about education and qualifications, sexuality and interests.

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure,we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Safety, anonyminity and confidentiality:

As Project members we want to assure you that we take your safety and anonyminity very seriously and that we will abide by our legal and ethical requirements to ensure confidentiality.

It is important for us to explain to you however that this Project also needs to carry out research and collect information in order for us to develop service delivery. 

Therefore, although the services offered on this website are confidential, information will be collected from:

Visitor message board (which can only be seen by Project staff)

Postings in the Project Community Forum

One to one sessions with Project staff/volunteers

ALL INFORMATION THAT IS COLLECTED IS STRICTLY ANONYMISED - NO INFORMATION THAT COULD IDENTIFY YOU WILL BE RECORDED.

Always protect your anonymity!

While Project staff will take every possible step to ensure your anonyminity it is important also that when using the website facilities that you do not reveal any private information that could identify you to other Project members.

Sensitivity when using the community forum

The messages that you post to other sex workers should be sensitive, non-discriminatory and inoffensive.

Where Project members act in any manner which is considered to be insensitive, discriminatory or offensive then that member will be asked to withdraw from the Project.

We also encourage Project members to flag up instances of website protocol abuse.  For example where another member is suspected not to be a sex worker, or where another member makes comments that are offensive etc.

In this instance you should contact Project staff to alert them to the incident that has taken place.  All reported incidents will be investigated by the Project team.  The results of such investigations will be posted on the forum.
